Q&A Session

Q: What will the police ask for when you get pulled over?

A: License, registration, and proof of insurance

Q: What happens if you don't have any of these items when you get pulled over?

A: You can get another ticket and your vehicle may get towed, so always make sure you have those items at all times just in case.

Q: Do you get something from the seller to show that the you are the new owner of the used car?

A: A pink slip/ certificate that states that the seller was the previous owner and is giving ownership to the buyer. You need to send the slip to the DMV to have your name printed on the slip.

Q: Do we need insurance when students like us are just learning how to drive with a parent's car?

A: No, insurance follows the car, not the driver so if you are using your parent's vehicle, typically that car should be insured.

Q: How do you handle a hit and run accident?

A: You must immediately call the police to document the accident, so we have proof to show the insurance company.

Q: In an accident, what information do you need from the other driver?

A: Personal info about the driver (name, number, etc.), car insurance policy, and any pictures of the accident (include license plate)

Q: In the event which you are at fault for a car accident, how should you convince the other person to not get the police involved?

A: Bribery (kidding), but you can't really do anything about that if you are at fault, just be honest.
